About

Why did I create the Metal Coil Endorsement website?

This website is the result of years of work by one person collecting information on the acquiring of the NYS Metal Coil Endorsement. Along the way, I have changed the way I have presented information and adjusted the formatting to reflect the strengths of each new website. I continue to find conflicting info while expanding it. This endorsement is one of, if not the hardest of the NYS endorsements to obtain.

Why do I say that?

I started reading the NYS Driver’s Manual for the Safe Securement of Metal Coils and Other Cargo Download mv79 and found it to be very lacking in the information to successfully pass the exam. My first attempt at passing it was in December of 2008 while I was a student at the Professional Driver Institute.

NOTE: this site is very much still a work in progress, and is bound to have a few errors – please pay attention to the citations given when evaluating the quality and accuracy of this data. Your help in finding, reporting and fixing any errors is appreciated.

I hope you enjoy the information I have collected and presented on these pages. Please contact me via email with any corrections and additional data (I’m sure there are plenty!) I continue to expand and evolve this site on a very regular basis.

A practice test for the Metal Coil Endorsement section is in development right now. This is a labor-intensive process and if there are any developers out there that would like to help out and get credit on this website please contact me at the email address above. I want the Metal Coil Endorsement practice exams to be the best study guide out there.

When I was a driving instructor for the Professional Driver Institute I was just one person who has heard America’s call to end the dangerous practice of distracted driving on our nation’s roadways.

Distracted driving is a very serious, life-threatening practice and I will not rest until we stop it. I am just one of many that are leading the effort but you are the key to preventing distracted driving.

The message is simple – Put it down!

Consumers/Applicants/CDL Drivers – Report Inquiries

Requesting a Free Copy of Your Background Report / File

The DAC employment report is a detailed summary of a trucker’s work history in the trucking industry. Most trucking companies today participate in sharing this information about truckers.

As a truck driver, you can request your DAC or Drive-A-Check driver’s report once every 12 months. The free report lists traffic incidents and employer-related problems such as discharges and company policy violations. It is important that you periodically verify the accuracy of the information in your report.

You will be able to view your entire employment history and driving record in the state where you are employed. Employers looking to hire truck drivers with good records will obtain a copy of this report during the final stages of the hiring process. The DAC employment report contains items such as the number of accidents, reasons for quitting or why they were fired, if they are eligible for re-hire, type of driving, commodities hauled, types of trailers pulled and MUCH more.

You may request at any time a free copy of your background reports (if any) previously prepared by HireRight, and/or your active database files (if any) maintained on you by HireRight, by completing and submitting the form below. CDL drivers also may use this form to request a copy of your DAC report/file. HireRight will also provide you a list of all HireRight customers who may have received your background report during the last 2 years.

If that link is broken you can go to the main website and request it there at http://www.hireright.com

If you are looking for a new job and you are not receiving the calls back that you think you should be getting then there is probably something bad in your DAC report that needs to be addressed.

Dispute DAC Information

HireRight will conduct an investigation, free of charge if you believe the information in your report is incomplete or inaccurate. Before filing a dispute, you need to possess a copy of your report that is no older than 60 days (in order to help ensure that you are disputing information currently maintained by HireRight). The dispute re-investigation process can take up to 30 days.
